I can only say for Kuala Lumpur for now, because I haven't been to any part of the world for long enough to observe their surroundings properly.
In 10 years, K.L. will be, hopefully, more developed, with better looking roads, clearer road signs. It would be no greener than K.L is today, and it certainly won't be cleaner. More and more land will be cleared out for unnecessary commercial and residential blocks.
There will be more and more highways, Mid Valley City will expand even more, there'll be the new MRT.
As for the rest of the world, I think I can say that the more developed countries would already be on the road to becoming those tech-y cities in movies. They would also be really advanced already in their recycling and "green"-ing techniques.
In 20 years ... I dunno.
